A Day with Cousins

Abby enjoyed a day playing with her cousins, while I help Emily and Paul out with their move!

Abby loves her cousins!

Our Night at the Jazz Game

Last Friday night, the Perrin's called us and asked if we wanted to go to the Jazz game that night.  I called our baby sitter and she happened to be available.  So, the Perrin's, Tullis' and us headed to Trax to ride down town to the game.  We found our seats and I don't think  fifteen minutes had past before the three women decided we would rather go to City Creek and go shopping.  That is just what we did.  We walked over to check out the new mall.  The mall is beautiful.  I am excited to go check it out when I have more time.  We arrived back at the Jazz game during the forth quarter.  That was my kind of Jazz game and I found my new best friends... Stephanie and Holly!

Here we go again...

I took Sam to the doctor today because he has been sick since last Friday and he is getting wore fast.  He is wheezing every time he breathes and he is not eating very well.  Today they checked his spo2 and it was okay but the Dr was still concerned about his wheezing.  So just like we had to do with Abby when she was a just a little older than Sam we did the neutralizer in the office.  He screamed the entire time, just like Abby. That seemed to help a bit so he gave us a prescription for Albuterol the same thing we gave Abby for her baby asthma.  Hopefully that will help a bit.  Poor little guy!  He is miserable and on top of being sick he got his first diaper rash and it is a bad one.  Hope he gets better soon!

Oficially Done!

I think I am officially done pumping!  I made it 6 months!  The two ounces I pumped tonight are just not going to do it!  I went from 16 oz per day to 2 oz in a week and a half. Sorry Sammy boy I wish I could have done it longer for you! It's a little bitter sweet, but have to admit it is kind of nice to be done! I started off pumping three times a day for 30 minutes then, a couple weeks ago cut it down to 2 times a day then a week ago I my supply had dropped to 8 oz a day so I decided to drop down to 1 time a day!  Well, tonight is it!

Sam's 6 Month Appointment

Sam had is 6 month appointment a few days ago, on the 15th.  Well, as we already knew he is not a small boy...

Weight: 21.3 lb (96%)
Length: 28.19 in (95%)
Head Circumference: 18 in (93%)

Dr. Gustin said he is a very healthy little guy.  She said there is just something about him that just make you smile.  I agree, first of all because he is so dang cute and second he is just a happy little guy and loves to socialize with everyone.  He got 5 vaccines that day, one oral and 4 shots.  I don't think he felt very well the day after he got all the shots.  He was just not his easy, happy self.

What is Sam doing at 6 months...  Well, yesterday he rolled over for the first time.  He rolled from his back to his stomach trying to get Abby's sandwich.  He loves his big sister.  When ever she is around he love to watch her and he loves when she talks and plays with him.  As of right now he is sleeping through the night.  While we were in Florida he was eating 5, 8oz bottles everyday, but ever since we got home, he has slowed down a lot.  Now he is just eating 5, 4-5 oz bottles.  We don't know what is up with that.  It has been a long time since he only drank that much.  Ever since his appt. last Thursday I have been trying to feed him more solid, but he is not a huge fan unless it is fruit (not peaches) or carrots.  He has become very opinionated about what food her will eat now.  I am not quite sure what to do.  Abby never had problems with.  She ate everything, but peas and carrots.  He does want to eat anything we are eating.  If we are eating food he knows he should be eating too.  He will watch every bite you take and will kind of squeal at you.  He likes to drink out of cups and from a straw.  He thinks he is a big boy.  He likes to hang out in the saucer now.  Thank goodness.  He likes to watch TV, and play with his toys.  He is getting better at sitting, but still not quite there.  I still loves to be held, but we can't hold him for very long because he is so big.  He is such a smiley guy.  He is super ticklish.  We all love to tickle him.  He is such a sweet baby just so happy!  We love him so much.  I can't believe it has been six months.

I go to work and...

Sam rolls over and Abby lets grandma put piggy tails in her hair.  I have been trying to get both of those things to happen for weeks and of course they happen the day I work!  They think Sam rolled over because he wanted Abby's sandwich.

Ahh Sleep!

Sam has slept through the night this whole week!  Last night he slept 14 hours the night before her slept 12 hours.  Once again, I hope this continues!

What's Your Name?

Tonight we were watching Charlotte's Web and  near the end Wilbur asks the little spiders what their names are.  Abby turns to me and asks what my name is.  I replied Jane Curtis, then she says, "I'm Abby Jane Curtis."  I said, "This is Samuel James Curtis," and she said, "No he is not Sanuel Jane Curtis his name is Baby Sammy Boy Curtis."  I just love her!

Today...

I have been a bit depressed today.  I want to go back to Florida and I think Abby does too.  She asked me three times today if we could go back to our hotel home.  I wish I could explain it to her, but she doesn't understand.  So, this afternoon Abby was trying to do something with her Minnie, she was frustrated saying, shit, shit, shit, shit, I said, "What did you say?" and she said, "Shit!" I explained to her that we don't say that word and she said, "It's been a hard day." I am not quite sure where she picked up that word.  She cracks me up! Now Sam did take a two hour nap today.  That is so not like Sam.  It was so nice.  I hope he does that everyday!  Later in the day Abby wanted to go outside and play so she asked me for some clothes, because she had been running around in her diaper all day.  I got her out some clothes and she freaked out.  She kept saying she wanted warmer clothes.  I told her her it was pretty warm outside and that outfit should be warm enough.  I finally figured out what the problem was.  She wanted summer clothes, clothes for "warmer" weather.  Not warmer clothes.  She wanted the summer clothes she was wearing in Florida.  After dinner she threw the biggest tantrum, I think, of her life.  She didn't nap today, went to sleep late last night late and was up early so, she was exhausted.  Stu and I were both trying to deal with her.  Stu finally got her somewhat settled down and then I came in.  We read a couple of stories, with a lot of interruptions and screaming, but we got through them eventually.  We were reading one of her books that she had ripped a page out of and I had taped it back in and she pointed to the tape and I explained to her that she had ripped it out and she stared sniffling and said, "I sorry I ripped it, it was just an accident."  It was so cute.  I just wanted to give her a big hug and say it's okay.  Then she climbed into bed and I sang some songs to her.  I was singing, "Part of Your World" for the Little Mermaid and in the song Ariel says, "walking around on those, what do they call them, oh feet."  I sang that part, "what do they call them," and this little quivery voice from her pillow said, "feet."  Then there is another part of the part of the song that is similar but Ariel sings, "what's that word again... street." I sang that part and that same little sad, quivery voice from the pillow whispers, "street." After I finished singing "The Bare Necessities" I said to her, "Tomorrow we will go outside and play." and she said, "Can we watch Jungle book and go to our hotel home?"  I just kissed her and told her I loved her and she said, "I sorry I cried mommy, I love you."  I said, "I love you too," and as I walked out of her room she said again, "I love you!"  I started crying it was so sweet, it melted my heart.  Boy, she can be a pain, but she sure knows how to push the right buttons.

Florida Day 7...

The breakfast buffet at the Beach club hotel.

Check out the Mickey Mouse waffles!  They were delicious!

Sam loved Donald Duck!  Look at his face!

We are now home.  It is nice to be home, but I am not quite ready to go back to life.  We had a fun last few hours today.  We had to get up early which was a bummer with daylight savings, to pack because we had breakfast at the Cape may Cafe at Disney's Beach Club resort at 10:05am. I thought the breakfast buffet was pretty good.  I especially liked the Mickey Waffles.  There we met Minnie, Donald and Goofy in the beach attire.  Abby was not feeling to hot again this morning.  I felt so bad.  It is not as fun to go to these special meals when the person you know would love it the most is not feeling well.  She woke up earlier this morning looking for her water.  She drank two cups of it then went back to sleep then she woke up again and came out of our room looking for her water again and threw up, then went back to bed.  She didn't want to get out of bed.  We finally dragged her out of bed 5 minutes before we needed to leave.  She fell asleep again in the Stu's arms while we were waiting for a table, but as soon as we were seated and she saw Minnie she perked up a bit.  Sam on the other had was super happy this morning.  He was so stinkin' cute!.  He was just smiling and giggling.  He was so fun!  Abby ate a pretty good breakfast and you could tell she felt a lot better.  All three character came to our table while we were eating.  Sam loved them!  He would just smile, kick and try to grab them.  I think he even tried to eat Goofy.  We have it all on video.  After breakfast we checked out the hotel to see what had changed since we stayed there 20 years ago.  Then we do check out Disney's Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Polynesian resorts.  My dream has always been to stay at the Gran Floridian one day, but after checking it out today I think I like the Polynesian resort better.  After that we headed to the airport.  Abby only threw like 5 tantrums on the way to the gate.  One before security, one right after, one 20 feet later in front of the train that takes you to the gate and I think one after that.  I can't remember.  Once again... gotta love two year olds.  The first tantrum she was made because she wanted to go up the escalator to the airplane.  She kept trying to explain to her that was not the way but she was determined it was and how to you explain that to a two year old.  Then the one in front of the train was because she wanted to get on a plane not a train.  We were about to drug her with Benadryl on the plane just because we didn't know how we would control her.  She ended up doing just fine.  She watched movies the whole time.  Sam slept the first little bit then was a happy little guy until he fell asleep the last hour or so.  Abby was awake the whole time then fell asleep as we were taxiing to the gate.  We needed my parents to come with us just to be our Sherpas. We had to take so much crap with two kids and having to carry two sleeping kids we had no hands to carry the crap. Abby was so happy to be home.  She showed grandma Lafaunda her Ariel and Mickey she got.  She pulled out Ariel and said, "This is Ariel, she is so mine."  Then she continued to blab non-stop until we put her to bed.  I think everyone was happy to be in their own bed and I am so excited to go jump in mine!  Good night!

Florida Day 6...

A day at the pool!  Sam's first time going swimming!

Abby in heaven, she could live at a pool!

Dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe

Sam out cold in the Stroller, the shopping at Downtown Disney was too much for him!

Snuggling with my Abby!

My happy boy!

Today we took the day off! We lazily got up and had breakfast then headed off to the pool.  We enjoyed a nice couple of hours at the pool.  There was a kiddy pool that was the perfect size for Abby.  It was nice to be able to just sit there while she played.  Stu and I took turns holding Sam and playing with Abby.  Sam seemed to like the water.  Today was his first time swimming.  Grandma and Grandpa brought Chick-Fil-A to the pool for lunch.  It was nice to sit in the sun!  When we got back to our room we gave Abby a bath with all of her Minnies, Mickey, and Strawberry Shortcakes.  She had a huge tantrum in the tub.  Stu and I didn't know what to do with her.  She was out of control.  When Stu finally got her out, after she told Stu multiple times to leave her alone, She got her blanket and binks and zonked out on the couch.  All the fighting, screaming and crying made her tired.  She slept for a couple ours and so did Sam.  When everyone woke up we headed off the Downtown Disney.  Grandma bought Abby an Arial doll and Sam an Eeyore.  Abby loves all of her Disney characters.  We ate dinner at the Rain-forest Cafe'.  Dinner was delicious and Abby liked looking at all of the animals and fish.  Then we walked through a toy store and bought the Haunted Mansion Life game.  On our way to the car we walked through Pleasure Island then piled into the car and drove through McDonald on the way home because we all needed a Carmel sundae.  Abby got a big (white) ice cream cone not a kiddie cone.  She thought that was pretty neat.  Now we are trying to get the kids to bed, and pack because we have to be out of the hotel by 9:30 am tomorrow because we have a Character breakfast buffet at the Beach Club resort tomorrow at 10:05am.  Then our plane leaves at 5:40.  I am not ready to go home and loos my husband to board studying.  Oh well! We are going to enjoy one last day!

Florida Day 5...

Daisy was the first character we met at Epcot!  Abby loved meeting them.  After we met Daisy she wanted to meet Mickey and Minnie and she would not stop until we met them.  Thank goodness for the Character spot!

Eating lunch at the Land Pavilion. Notice Abby pink shoes above Grandpa Ron's head.  I don't know why she always has to have her shoes off when she eats.

Abby so excited about her new Mickey Mouse.

The ducks were a hit, we should have just gone to a zoo.

Abby, Mickey and Grandpa watching the fountains.

The Figment ride

Abby jumping on the squares in this little interactive place.

Rearranging the stuff at the gift shop.

Poncho anyone!

Who needs a poncho when you have a plastic bag.

China

Germany

Japan

What a good grandpa! People kept commenting that Sam's Shirt looked like Nemo.  I didn't even thing of that.

Nothing better than puddles

It has been a long day and it is late so I'm going to make this fast.  We spent the day at Epcot.  The end!  Just Kidding!  We started in the part of Epcot that is not the Countries.  Daisy Duck was one of the first things we saw after we walked in the gates.  I showed Abby the line and asked if she would rather stand in the line to meet Daisy or go on a ride.  She said stand in the line.  That is what we did.  It was not too long and Abby loves to meet the characters so it was worth it. We road the Nemo ride which Abby liked, but at the end of the ride there is an aquarium and she like that even more.  She saw dolphins, sharks, little Nemos and Dorys.  Abby could look at animals and fish all day long.  Then we went over to the character spot and met Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy.  It was worth the 40 minute wait.  I just love to see Abby's face.  I never understood why people stood in line to meet character or got autograph book, but now I do.  By then it was lunch time and we went to the same place we go every time we go to EPCOT, the Land Pavilion, for lunch.  There we ate then rode, Living with the Land, which Abby enjoyed when there was an animal or a fish to look at.  Then we rode Soarin'.  While we waited for my parent to ride Soarin' so we could swap kids, we bought Abby a little Mickey Mouse to go with her Minnie mouse she already has.  She was so excited.  She hugged him and kisses him.  It was so worth the 14 dollars just to see that.  Next we went over the go on the the Figment ride but got distracted by to cool water fountains and jumping water in front of the building.  Abby enjoyed that.  She sat there will her Mickey next to her watching the water.  Her and Grandpa Ron had a good time playing there.  We went on Figment, not worth our time, then enjoyed the gift shop after.  Abby just sat there rearranging everything.  As we went to leave we realized it was pooring rain so we bought ponchos and made our way to the butterfly exhibit.  The rain stopped and my parents went on test track while Abby enjoyed some time on the Tinker Bell play ground and Sam slept, then we swapped and Stu and I went on that and Stu went on Mission Space.  We had dinner in Mexico then went to see some of the other countries.  We finished the night with the show Illuminations then left the park.  On the way home we stopped and got Abby a Happy meal because she had slept through dinner.  She would not eat it so we told her if she didn't eat it we would take away Mickey.  I took Mickey and she kept saying stuff about her tummy filling better then she and she ate a fry and said it made her tummy hurt.  She says that sometimes when she doesn't want to eat to I didn't think anything of it.  But after a few minutes she took a tiny bit of chicken nugget and threw up.  I grabbed the happy meal box and she threw up three more times in that.  What a way to end the evening, cleaning puke out of all the nooks and crannys of a car seat.  She felt so much better.  I felt so bad.  I tried to let her now it was okay that we would get her cleaned up and her blanket cleaned up and she looks and me and says, "Sorry mommy." It made me feel even worse.  I told her it was okay and she would get Mickey back after we cleaned her up.  When we pulled into the hotel she said I feel better and me hiccups went away.

Quote of the day by Abby... Stu had a shirt on today that said save the humans and has a whale on it.  He asked Abby what was on his shirt and she said, "A mad Dolphin." Stu said is it a whale. Abby replied, "No a mad dolphin!"
