1 week old!

One week photo shoot!

I can't believe it has already been a week. Time flies by when you are having fun! We love being parents and love our little Abby! We just can't stop looking at her. I still can't believe she is ours. She is sleeping pretty well most nights. Last night she slept 3 hrs and 45 mins, then 4 hours. It was wonderful! We are definitely getting faster at changing diapers, especially Stu! He is the designated diaper changer. Breastfeeding is going great too, though I do feel like all we do is eat, but that's okay!

This is my favorite outfit! I had to get some pictures in it because she is growing out of it already. She is so long all of her newborn clothes are getting too small. Here she is stretching away! Loves to have those legs stretched out straight as can be! Abby and Daddy!
Daddy is such a good daddy! So patient especially at 3 in the morning when he is changing her diaper, and right when he finishes she poops again! She loves her binks!

Some Nurses?

I have to post this story to I don't forget it one day. While I was in the hospital I had an older nurse that came in to my room in the wee hours of the morning and said it was time for my meds and that the doctor had proscribed a hormone patch I need to put on. I am sure Dr. Mark didn't order that patch at 2 am or when ever it was, but for some reason she decided to bring it in at that point. then she proceeded to ask me how to put it on. I had no idea. So then she called the pharmacy and asked them. Once we figured out where to put it, she said she had to go get gloves on before she could touch it, because SHE didn't have any problems with depression. This patch was to help prevent me for getting the baby blues. Did she really think that something was going to happen to her if she touch the patch. I am glad she put gloves on but did she really have to say that. Weirdo!

Abigail Jane Curtis

Finally, pictures of Abby! Abby was born on Monday, July 13th at 1:36 a.m. weighing 8 lbs 11 oz and was 21.75 inches long.

Here is the story! Stu and I went into the hospital on Sunday around 5 p.m. to have a fetal non stress test done and to check the amniotic fluid level. She passed the non stress test, but the doctor doing the ultrasound to check the fluid levels, started the ultrasound and said to us, you are not going anywhere, you are going to stay and have a baby. Being 5 days overdue, that was exactly what I wanted to hear. There was very little fluid left. The nurse said they start to worry at fluid levels around 7 cm and I was at 2. So we called the family and told them the news! They started the Potossin around 7 p.m. and then an Epidural a little later, then doctor Grandpa came in and ruptured my membranes. At that point I was only dilated to a 1 so we figured it would be around 7 the next morning before she would arrive. My Mom, Emily and Lafaunda came to visit and left around 10 p.m. Doctor Grandpa decided to stay at the hospital, so he went to the physician sleep room to get some zzz's before the big moment. The nurse checked me shortly after that and I was dilated to a 6, that was really surprising! Then around 1 a.m. I was dilated to a 9 1/2 and I started pushing. Stu called his dad and said, I can see her head, you might want to come over. After 30 minutes of pushing little Abby was born. Everything went very well. Mommy and Baby doing great!

It was such an amazing experience getting to hold my baby for the first time. They asked me if I wanted to hold her skin to skin and of course I did. At first I didn't know what to think because she wouldn't stop crying. It kind of scared me, I kept thinking what have I gotten myself into, but I also just kept thinking how cute she was. Then they took her away for a while finished everything up with me and transferred me to a new room. I was so exhausted and still a little nauseated and I fell right to sleep. I was awakend early the next morning, not by the nurses bringing in my baby, but by my mom calling wanting to know why we didn't call her! I felt bad I should have, but I really was exhausted and I didn't want to wake them at 2 am. The rest of the day went well. Breastfeeding was a little hard at first, but Abby seemed to be doing pretty well. We had lots of visitors as you can see by all the pictures.

The Cradle

My cute mom made us the bedding for Abby's cradle. I had to post pictures, because it is soooooo cute! She made it to match her nursery. The cradle is actually the cradle I slept in, Stu and I just had it refinished. Here are some pictures! Thanks Mom!

And here are some, hopefully, last prego pictures of me! I had to post pictures of what I looked like at 40 weeks!

Check out that sexy belly!

Chi-O Cupcake night!

My cute Chi-Omega sisters had little get together the other night! It was so fun to see everyone! To be honest I was hoping I would not be able to make it because I would have an adorable little new born baby, but NO! I am glad I got to go and see all the new little prego bellies and Jacqueline's little baby John! Here are some pics from it! Rachel, Brittney, Me, Jacqueline, and Lindsey. This is not a very good picture, we tried to put it on something and use the timer. Baby John is in the pic, but he got cut off! OOPS!
The three pregos at different stages of pregnancy!

Happy Due Date!

Still no Baby! But a cute story. This morning my 5 year old niece Addie left a message on my phone that said, Hi Aunt Jane, this is Addie I was just wondering if you were going to have baby Abby today? Call me back. When I called her back and said I hadn't had her yet and that I didn't think she was coming today, her flustered reply was, Oh, Then when is she going to come? In her little 5 year old mind today was the day. She got up this morning and said to her mom, Today is Tuesday... Aunt Jane!

No baby yet!

Sorry not pics this time! My family all got together for dinner last night and we invited my father in law since my mom in law is in NY visisting our newest member of the Curtis/Blackburn Family, and we decided to all take guesses on when baby Abby will come. There were a couple guesses for the 7th mine for the 9th one on the 10th and of course my father in law who is my doctor says I think the 14th. Boy that makes you feel good when you doc says that. ( :
I am already scheduled for induction on that date, because it has to be a week after your due date. Hopefully she doesn't stay in there that long, but it could happen.
So one day till due date and there is not sign of baby Abby! Sad to say I am okay with this, I have been sick for the past 5 days and I would prefer to no have her while I am sick. I just got a nasty cold and I am finally getting over it. Being sick while in you last days of pregnancy is not fun! Those of you that have been prego, you know what happens sometimes when you sneeze or even cough. He He! That is the update. I am just laying around trying to get better, thinking of all the things I wish I could be doing.

Babies need a lot of stuff!

This is what Stu and I did on Thursday night and Friday morning! We put all these things together. Who knew that we would need a warehouse just for all the baby stuff! I have to admit I had a really fun time playing with it after it was all put together! Hope she comes soon so she can have fun playing with it too!

Baby Update!

I think Abby likes it in her small quarters. I went to the Doc today and I am only 70% effaced and not dilated. GRRRR! We had an ultrasound today to see how big she is and... give or take a pound she is 7 lb 10 oz. EEK! I hope she doesn't get to much bigger before she comes. Poor Abby has her face squished against my pelvis. I scanned the ultrasound pic so you all could see her poor little squished nose. She is going to come out with a flat face-poor little thing. Hope she comes out soon!
