My New Calling!

Well, we have been in our ward since June and I finally got a calling! Not that I was complaining! Stuart and I almost started laughing when they ask me to be the Assistant den mother in cub scouts. I think its cubs. I don't know. I know nothing about scouts. I grew up in a family of girls. I'm almost as girly as they come. I had to ask what they did and how old the boys were. When they announced it in Sacrament Meeting my Mother-in-law had not heard the news yet and she busted out laughing. It should be fun though. I really like the den mother, Rebecca Tangren.

My niece Cate's Blessing

So I am a little behind. My sister Steph had baby # 5 in August. She finally got a girl. YAHOO! Over Labor day weekend my whole family went up to Seattle. Stu and I decided to make a road trip out of it. It was so much fun. We stopped in George, Washington on the way up and went to a Dave Matthews Band concert. The Gorge Amphitheater was beautiful and the concert was great! It was a short weekend trip but it was fun to all be together, that doesn't happen very often.

We MoVeD!

A lot has gone on this past little while. Along with the trips we also moved out of Student Housing at the U. We moved in with Stu's parents for the next little while to save some money for when we head off to Medical School. I have to say it is really nice not having to pay rent. I took some pics of our cute little apartment at the U so you could all see how beautiful the cinder block walls were. The week after Stu got home from China we left for Washington D.C. We had such a great time. We went with my parents and Stu's parents. That is the way to travel! The first day we were there we went on a tour of the U.S. Capital. It was beautiful. Even though I have been to D.C. a few times and lived there I had never been on a tour of the capital. That same day we went to the Library of Congress, another place I had never been. It is amazing! I won't bore you with our day by day itinerary, we went to all the monuments, the White House, we went to the International Spy Museum, the Smithsonian, National Archives, all the touristy things. We also took a day trip to Mount Vernon. That was my favorite part of the trip. I love learning more about George Washington. Then we drove down to Williamsburg, Virginia. On our way down we stopped in Annapolis, Maryland to see the Naval Academy and the cute little town. In Williamsburg we did a candle light ghost tour, saw Historic Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. We loved learning all the history, but we did need a break from it, so we went to Busch Gardens. Stu and his dad went on all the roller coasters while the rest of us went on the little rides, saw some of the shows and wondered through the shops. I did get to see the Budweiser Clydesdales. They were huge! To please my Navy dad we did drive to Norfolk, Virginia to see the Naval Base. The boys got to go on a tour of a real life aircraft carrier. That was Stu's Favorite. We had such a wonderful time. It was so fun to go back to my favorite place on earth!

Stu in China

It has been a while since I have posted so today I am going to play catch up! The last week in May Stu went to China for two weeks with a program called, A Delegation on Medicine. He went and studied traditional Chinese medicine along with Eastern medicine, which is a lot like Western medicine. He had a great time. Along with all the medical stuff, he also got to do a lot of sight seeing. He has some great pics so I thought I would share them. I am jealous that he got to go to China and I didn't. I don't know all the details about the trip so if you want more info, you will have to talk to him.

The Great Wall!

I thought this was funny. This sign was infront of the panda's cage. Someone needs to work on their translations.

The Forbidden City

An operating room in one of the cities he went to. I couldn't believe how bare it was.

The Terracotta Soldiers

How they ate most of their meals.

What Stu has been up to!

Since I have posted a whole bunch of pictures of me having fun. I thought I would post a picture of what Stu has been up to and will continue to do until next Friday! I can't wait for next Friday, but I can say much because I have not been that much fun either, since I came home from my trips. I have just been studying for my boards for Radiography.

NYC then Disneyland

While Stuart has been stuck at home studying for the MCAT, I have been traveling the world. Well not really the world but both the East and West Coast. For my Aunt Jennifer's Birthday a bunch of the women in the family went to NYC for a few days. We had a blast! We went to the NYC Temple the first day which was absolutely beautiful, then we went to lunch at Tavern on The Green in Central Park, (fun but very expensive) then we went to see Wicked. It is one of my favorite musicals! To finish off the evening we took a limo back to our hotel. The next day my sister Emily and I went to see my friend Megan Fairchild dance in the NYC Ballet. She was gorgeous! Then that night we went to see Mary Poppins. It was amazing too and of course we had to do a little shopping before we left.

After I got back from New York I spent a day with Stu then left for California with my sister Emily and her family. We were only there for three days. The first day we spent sometime at the pool then we spend the evening at Fashion Island Mall. At Fashion Island my niece Addie road the Carousel then we went to a pet store and we got to play with cute little puppies. Addie, Hallie and I loved this part. Then we went a children's clothing store and Addie (age 4) wanted a dress so I think she tried on half the dresses in the store. Then next day we spent the day at... DISNEYLAND! We had a great time. Addie was so excited to see the Princesses. We got to meet Sleeping Beauty, Princess Minnie, and Pocahontas. (Whom Addie as not that thrilled to meet, Addie asked her where Cinderella was.)

Sorry the pictures are all over the place!
